Blue Water Development Acquires The Bay Resort

Ocean City, Md. (April 23, 2019) – Blue Water Development, a real estate developer specializing in commercial and hospitality properties from Florida to Maine, is pleased to announce the acquisition of The Bay Resort in Dewey Beach, Del. Located just a few miles from the town of Rehoboth Beach, Bay Resort has been a Dewey Beach mainstay since 1985.

“We’re excited to add such a well-run, beautiful hotel to our portfolio,” said Todd Burbage, Blue Water Co-Owner. “The Bay Resort has been the go-to choice for families in Dewey Beach for decades, and we take a lot of pride in welcoming this much-loved landmark to the Blue Water family.”

While Blue Water has plans for a full rebrand and remodel next year, the top-rated hotel in Dewey Beach is ready for guests to enjoy the 2019 season.

Ideal for both extended stays and weekend getaways, each of the hotel’s 67 deluxe rooms includes a fully-equipped kitchenette, free Wi-Fi, a large flat-screen TV and a patio with either a pool or bay view. Situated on a private cove with a 250-foot pier on Rehoboth Bay, the property also provides for relaxation and recreation with sunset-gazing and bonfire-making, grilling, fishing and crabbing and kayak and paddleboard rentals.

Off property, both the ocean and downtown Dewey Beach, filled with plenty of fresh seafood restaurants and a vibrant nightlife scene, are just a quick stroll away. The Resort’s central location also puts guests within a short drive of attractions including Delaware Seashore State Park, the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, Funland, golf courses, brewery and winery tours and plenty of tax-free shopping.

“The Bay Resort truly has it all,” said Jim Baeurle, Blue Water’s director of development. “I actually grew up nearby, and it’s where my in-laws would always stay when they visited. We probably spent as much time watching the sun set there as we did at my own house, and I look forward to watching many more there in the future.”

The Bay Resort is located at 126 Bellevue Street, Dewey Beach, Del., 19971.
