Blue Water Launches Portfolio-Wide Fundraising Campaign for Care Camps Foundation

Outdoor hospitality company partners with pediatric oncology nonprofit to help send children with cancer to camp

OCEAN CITY, MD (May 28, 2026) — Blue Water, an outdoor hospitality company that owns and operates campgrounds, RV resorts, and coastal hotels across the country, announced a month-long fundraising partnership with Care Camps Foundation in recognition of National Camping Month. Throughout June, guests at Blue Water owned and managed campgrounds, RV resorts, and hotel properties across the portfolio will be invited to donate directly to Care Camps Foundation through an on-site campaign, with a goal of raising $1,000 per property.

“The campground industry has deep roots with Care Camps Foundation, and we’re proud to put the full weight of our portfolio behind this cause. National Camping Month is a celebration of what the outdoors does for people, and there’s no better time to help make that experience possible for children facing cancer,” said Jess Nichols, Chief Operating Officer, Blue Water.

Where Hope Makes Camp: How the Campaign Works

Under the campaign tagline “Where Hope Makes Camp,” Blue Water properties will host a portfolio-wide slate of guest-facing fundraising activities throughout June. Guests can donate directly through the Care Camps campaign page using a dedicated QR code, selecting the specific Blue Water property they are supporting at the time of donation. All funds flow through the Care Camps campaign platform.

Fundraising activities across the portfolio include:

  • Cornhole tournaments and bingo nights
  • Movie and s’mores evenings
  • Duck races and ice cream socials
  • Weekly prize raffles
  • The Care Camps-supported “Pie in the Face” challenge, a guest favorite known for driving on-site engagement and shareable social content

To encourage friendly competition across the portfolio, the property that raises the most above the $1,000 threshold will receive national recognition from Care Camps Foundation. Any property that reaches the $1,000 goal will earn a 2026 fundraising badge for use in marketing materials and guest communications.

Why Care Camps Foundation

Founded in 1984 through the campground industry, Care Camps Foundation is the only bi-national nonprofit dedicated solely to funding medically supervised oncology camps for children with cancer and their families. The organization supports a network of more than 120 camps across the United States and Canada, providing children the opportunity to experience traditional camp life — friendship, outdoor activity, and a sense of normalcy — at little to no cost to families.

For children navigating treatment schedules, hospital stays, and uncertainty, camp offers something medicine cannot: space to be a kid. Blue Water’s partnership with Care Camps Foundation reflects a shared belief that the outdoors has the power to heal, connect, and restore — for guests of all ages and circumstances.

“We believe every child deserves the experience of camp. Blue Water’s commitment to this campaign is a meaningful step toward making that possible for more families,” said Jenna Berneck, Development Director, Care Camps Foundation.

How to Give

Guests visiting any Blue Water property in June can scan the on-site QR code or visit the Blue Water campaign page to donate. Every contribution, from $5 to $500, goes directly toward keeping oncology camps accessible and free for families. Guests will be prompted to select the property they are supporting at the time of donation.
