Since joining the leadership team of Blue Water Development in April 2016, Deserie Lawrence has transformed it from a company known by its founder’s highly regarded name to a brand recognized for exceptional coastal real estate development.
The California native graduated in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. A position in sales lured her to the Eastern Shore in 1999, where similar subsequent positions, including being the executive director of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce, kept her here. After a few years, a handful of articles about the transition from traditional to digital marketing launched Deserie into the most influential facet of her career.
In 2011, Deserie co-founded Social Media Architects, a marketing firm she later renamed GNPR Social when it became a solo venture, offering digital marketing with a heavy focus on social media. She simultaneously taught classes at local colleges and led seminars nationwide.
Her marketing efforts garnered the attention of the principals of Blue Water Development, who were looking to rebrand and grow. Lawrence now leads the company’s small in-house marketing team, but also has a full bench of “exceptional outside creative team members” who work behind the scenes to establish the “face” of the company.
