Blue Water Donates $150k to Diakonia of Ocean City, Maryland

Since 1972, Diakonia has been serving those most in need in Worcester County, Maryland. What began as one humble house and four little cottages is now two buildings providing up to 50 beds, including family units allowing for families to stay together when it matters most. Over the past 10 years, they have expanded their services to include case management, housing assistance, homelessness prevention, and veteran services. This wonderful resource is maintained through generous support from individuals and organizations alike, and through the hard work and dedication of staff and volunteers.

Worcester County is very near and dear to us at Blue Water. Not only is it our home, but it is also home to several of our properties. Blue Water is committed to enhancing and elevating the properties we develop, manage, and invest in by also investing in our communities. Our founders, Jack and Todd Burbage have a dedicated history of charity, especially right here in our hometown. We want our friends and neighbors thriving, not just surviving. Diakonia gives people the chance and resources to achieve stability and prosperity.

Every human being deserves the safety and dignity of housing, and Diakonia works hard to support the unhoused community on the Lower Eastern Shore. We are stronger as a community when we support our friends and neighbors in times of struggle. Diakonia is so deserving of our support, and we are grateful for the lifesaving work they do in our hometown.
